What We Do

One firm across the full arc of a digital programme

We work from the radio spectrum and the hardware that uses it, up through the software and data layered on top, to the policy that governs the whole.

Connectivity & RF Engineering

Low-cost, long-range data-transmission networks, including TV White Spaces links that connect schools, hospitals and community radios, backed by patent-holding antenna and RF expertise.

Software, Data & IoT

Web and mobile applications, OCR-based data rescue, and wireless sensor networks for agriculture, health and environmental monitoring, turning field measurements into live, usable data.

Audits, Surveys & Policy

Independent spectrum-use audits, rigorous baseline surveys with SMART indicators, and advisory on ICT and science, technology & innovation policy, the work donors increasingly ask for.

Who We Are

A research group that builds what it recommends

Founded by an internationally recognised engineer-academic, eCRG pairs academic depth with field-proven engineering. Our deliverables have a habit of becoming national infrastructure and, in the case of TV White Spaces, national regulation.

More about the firm

Regulation-shaping : Our TVWS work for rural broadband led MACRA to draft new regulations, opening the technology to commercial use in Malawi from 2019.

Internationally published : Our Malawi deployments feature in the UN Broadband Commission's State of Broadband 2015 report, IEEE Spectrum and peer-reviewed proceedings.
